Pick up my new sci-fi novel Herokiller, and read my first series, The Earthborn Trilogy, which is also on audiobook. DPS isn't as vital in this game as it is WoW or other MMOs because of missed shots, heavy movement, etc. What happens next? That’s anyone’s guess, but there’s probably more glitch-finding to come.įollow me on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram. Though I’d argue The Division 2’s glitches are worse and more potentially gamebreaking. For the rest of us, I would advise not going anywhere near this DPS glitch or anything like it in the future because at this point, it’s pretty clear that Massive is going to come down on the side of punishment rather than Bungie’s more laid back approach. I don’t think The Division 2 is “ruined” because of this, and yet if anyone was rolled back for dabbling with the exploit or not using it at all, I would expect you might lose those players forever. And past that, it’s a bit hard to take this seriously when after a big show of banning exploiters and pronouncements that the glitch is fixed, players instantly discover that it is most definitely not fixed. But you have to make sure that you’re targeting the right people with punishment, which does not seem to be happening here. I think you can make an argument that some level of rollback could be needed for players who stack millions of damage and farm thousands of pieces of loot using exploits. Bungie fixed Wish-Ender eventually and didn’t punish anyone that used it (myself included, I used the hell out of that thing for a month), and they made PvP emblems to commemorate those wacky times when those weapons were breaking the game. Or before that, when weapons like Lord of Wolves or Prometheus Lens temporarily destroyed PvP. Yesterday, I said I could see how it was if you heavily abused the exploit, but I have been reminded of what happened last season with Wish-Ender in Destiny 2, a bow that was doing 5x the damage it was supposed to, making PvE much easier. The second issue is whether any action was justified at all. The first is that Massive seems to be somewhat…indiscriminate with their disciplinary action, targeting some accounts that almost certainly have not used the glitch (one player on reddit says that his father, who played for 200 hours before realizing he could fast travel, was suspended), while there are other players who say they used the glitch at least a little bit and were not banned. The problem? There are two of them, right off the bat.
